A golden opportunity to connect with some of the most exciting African and international filmmakers, special guests and music performers, at the daily ZIFF Talks & Press Conferences, as Zanzibar International Film Festival kicks off this Saturday 18th June.
The Opening Talk and Press Conference is on Saturday 18th June 3pm at Seyyida Hotel, when musician Oliver Mtukudzi will join Festival Director Martin Mhando. Oscar nominated Producer Donald Ranvaud (City of God, The Constant Gardener) and Clouds Entertainment to discuss the exciting program of film, workshops and music on offer at ZIFF 2011.
There will be a full schedule of talks everyday at 3pm at Seyyida Hotel, including African fillmmakers such as Xena Bautarizah (Making the Band), Javed Jafferji (Journey to State House), Amitabh Aurora (Glamour) and Bob Nyanja (The Rugged Priest). The stars and director of big South African soccer film Taka Takata will be speaking on the 23rd June.
One of the most exciting parts of the Zanzibar Film Festival is the stellar line-up of workshops and masterclasses led by some of the world’s top professionals. Hollywood Camerman Barry Braverman (The Darjeeling Ltd), Documentary Maker Nick Broomfield (Biggie & Tupac) and TV Producer Paul Miller will all be joining the ZIFF Talks series.
Daily ZIFF Talks is a great way to learn from the professionals as well as connect with some of the most exciting up-and-coming filmmakers.
ZIFF is East Africa’s largest Arts festival, and celebrates the unique cultural heritage of Africa and the Dhow. “A Season of Visions” is the inspiring theme of the 2011 festival, with 71 films shown over 8 days of festivities.
