The 8th edition of Sauti za Busara music festival was took place Zanzibar on 9 - 13 February 2011. It was kicked off with a dazzling parade through Zanzibar town, including brass bands, stilt walkers, Italian clowns, capoeira dancers and local mamas with colourful umbrellas.,
The festival featured five nights of live music from some of Africa’s finest. Each day five thousand people gathered inside the ancient walls of the Old Fort in Stone Town, including artists, promoters, media professionals, travelers, tourists and local families. All the came together as one nation - under an African groove.
Outside the festival, the whole of stone town was buzzing with Busara Xtra fringe events: dance classes, taarab rehearsals, arts journalism workshops, networking meetings for professionals, music film screenings, local and international artists’ collaborations, fashion shows and yoga to stretch and make ready for more dancing.
