The International Network for Small and Medium Enterprises (INSME) Annual Meeting and Forum, which is taking place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 26 - 28 May, is set to advance local enterprise development. This is the first time that this event will be held on the African continent.

Local Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) will have the opportunity to access a wealth of international knowledge and expertise and engage with industry leaders from around the world at this event, which will be managed by MCI South Africa, event and conference management specialists.

According to MCI South Africa, Managing Director, Rashid Toefy the INSME Annual Meeting & Forum brings together leading global experts in the field of SME innovation and technology commercialisation for mutual learning and networking. The event will focus on the role and importance of technology-driven entrepreneurship and innovation in fostering small business efficiency, competitiveness and growth.

"This will be a unique opportunity for South Africans to learn from some of the leading practices globally and for international practitioners to gain exposure to and learn from South African and African practices," says Toefy.

Concurrent to the international event, MCI will also be hosting a local 2015 Forging Enterprise Conference in collaboration with various partners in the government and corporate sector such as Osiba Management, Economic Development Partnership, Department of Small Business Development, Silicon Cape Initiative and Africa.com to name a few. "This unique event which will boast a small business exhibition component will showcase the latest trends and developments in enterprise development in South Africa and provide a platform for local enterprises to connect and engage with their international counterparts and to forge new business relationships across borders", he adds.

"We are excited to be the event partner for both these prestigious events, which speaks directly to our core mandate of bringing people together through innovative meetings, events, and conferences", says Toefy. One of MCI's areas of expertise is having the ability to facilitate and organise an event that encourages active engagement and participation across all event audiences. "The success of an event or conference should not be gauged on how many people attend the event but rather on how many people actively engage with the content", says Toefy.

"Through hosting these events we have the ability to shape the business conversations that are taking place on the African continent and to make a meaningful impact on effecting change and advancing economic growth in key sectors", he concludes.
