Honorable Minister of Communication and Infrastructure,

Vice President of Fly Dubai Airline,
Distinguished Invited Guests,
Ladies and Gentlemen.
Good Afternoon!
I feel very much honored and privileged to be invited to officially inaugurate a direct flight between Zanzibar and Dubai via Dar es Salaam by Fly Dubai Airline. Indeed, I am pleased to be associated with this very happy occasion as the guest of honor. It is gratifying to note that the first Fly Dubai’ passengers to Zanzibar have just disembarked; and the passengers from Zanzibar to Dubai will soon depart. I wish them all very safe and comfortable journey to their final destination.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the Fly Dubai Airline management for taking initiative to launch a new direct flight to Zanzibar. I believe this wonderful new link will further cement the already strong brotherly relationships which have existed between the peoples of Zanzibar and Gulf countries for centuries. And more importantly, I hope, this new link will open up new economic opportunities available for our peoples in these two countries.
When you take a walk to Mchangani Street, our busiest commercial center, and ask any businessperson where his goods come from, he will instantly answer you: “Dubai”. It is my sincere hope that the scheduled this twice a week flights by Fly Dubai Airline will help to bring Dubai to Mchangani Street! In the same way, I would also be happy and encouraged to see our businesspeople grape this opportunity to export Zanzibar to Dubai!
Ladies and Gentlemen,
We count this new flight as another great leap for Zanzibar tourism. Many tourists from Gulf countries and Far Eastern countries could now easily connect to Zanzibar. I would like, however, to remind all stakeholders in tourism sector that this is not a guaranteed great leap; we need to double our efforts in marketing our attractions in those countries.
We need to tell those potential tourists our good stories. On the part of the Government, we assure business community of our continued support to meet their goals. We have always looked for this opportunity to have a direct flights from Dubai to Zanzibar, and today we have got one, adding to those direct flight for Addis to Zanzibar by Ethiopian Airlines, Muscat to Zanzibar by Oman Air and Qatar to Zanzibar by Qatar Air.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
As many of you know, our airport is being modernized to open Zanzibar for more international trade. This modernization goes together with improvement of safety, efficiency and excellent hospitality in handling of local and international passengers. Our target is to transform our airport as the best friend for all airlines landing in Zanzibar. I appeal to all staff in this International Airport to strive to reach our national set up goal.
The new direct flight between Zanzibar and Dubai with affordable fare is a precious gift to all people of Zanzibar. Our Government really values it and promises to offer the best ground services to Fly Dubai Airline to avoid unnecessary delay. We promise the same to all other airlines.
Ladies and Gentlemen,
I have been told that the Fly Dubai Airline has assisted the Zanzibar Government with the landing system. I take this opportunity on behalf of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar to thank the Fly Dubai Management for this valuable assistance, which has not only arrived at a right time but it has also opened a first page of cooperation between Fly Dubai Airline and Zanzibar Government. I also thank the Vice President of the Fly Dubai Airline for his leadership. We look forward to closely work with you for realization of our dreams.
I wish to conclude my brief remarks by once again thank the Management of the Fly Dubai Airline for launching the direct flight between Zanzibar and Dubai, and for inviting me to be the guest of honour. The new connection, as I said before, will bring sisters and brothers from the two sides closer as well as improve trade between them.
